BackWhite Lightning: Phase Six

Phase Six

This gal comes to us this time to have a few more personal touch items tended to; for a comprehensive service and inspection prior to the upcoming Rally, and so that we can integrate a new system designed to maximize the use of the extreme power that this gal produces; the system being integrated is a combination of traction and lunch control with key components and software designed by us specifically for the Ford GT.
Here she is as arrived.

Here she is on fixtures with the project defined and the processes about to unfold.

Here we are integrating several plug and play junction points throughout the OEM wiring harness all the time we are doing so in such a manner that the results appear as if OEM and that no systems are compromised. Then add to this all of the connectors being used are multi seal Deutsch and all of the wire is color coded in a manner similar to OEM so as to insure that the durability is extreme and the serviceability is very straightforward; as if OEM.

Here we continue the process of integrating one plug and play junction point after another. In addition to doing so in an OEM manner we also have created the basis for the new system being integrated to be easily removed hence returning her to OEM operation with nothing more than the moving of a couple plugs.

The gal arrived with her shoes freshly powder coated however the color was not as desired as such her shoes were striped and then powder coated again this time in a semi gloss black. The process included the powder coating of the OEM center caps which must disassembled before doing so. Once the powder coating was completed her fresh set of rubber was installed thus completing one of the steps as we make her ready for her journey to the Rally.

We are methodically migrating through the traction control integration process; what seems like miles of wire aka custom harnesses are being created and then all terminated with Deutsch connectors.
Here are pictures of many of the stages as we take get care to integrate the traction control system so that it appears as if OEM while maintaining ease of future service.

During the process of integrating the traction control system we are also integrating the custom OEM appearing A/F gauge with the integrated voltage sensing system.
Here we are very carefully removing the OEM instrument cluster so we can methodically integrated the custom A/F gauge. We assemble the instrument cluster on the bench and then once reinstalled bring the system on line confirming that everything operates properly before buttoning up the dash.

Now we are completing the final detail items as associated with the custom air/fuel gauge and the custom traction control system.
Here we have completed the integration of the power sources for the custom air/fuel gauge and the traction control system; within this area the small red button with the red LED is the custom air/fuel gauge system monitor as well as the calibration button.

Here we have completed the integration of the launch control button and the programmable primary multi position control switch as associated with the launch control system.

Here is a custom circuit board that we created to bring all of the LEDs functions to a common point thus allowing for ease of service over time and a clean OEM style integration.

Here the upper steering column shell has been completed; we have integrated the two LEDs with one of them being a bi-color thus creating effectively 3 LEDs. There is the system on/off light, the notification of slip light, and the rev limiter light.

Here are the multiple harnesses that will remain located under the driver side of the dash; these include the primary traction control harness and then the secondary harnesses that go to the lower and upper steering column shroud, the clutch switch, and the computer interface for personalized programming of the system. Throughout the creating of the system only Deutsch connectors were used, fine multi strand wire, and then an OEM style sheathing so as to insure an OEM style integration as well as the ease of serviceability.

Here the system has been fully integrated and tested; these two LEDs are the only thing that visibly separates this gal from the remainder of the Ford GT's.

Now we have migrated this gal to another facility to have some pre-rally detail work tended to and then she will go through a series of real time testing before being loaded for her journey to the rally.
Now that the custom traction control system has been fully integrated the use of this knob discretely located and yet easy to reach allows for full instant control over the system.
