BackOut of the Pit: Phase One

Phase One

Here we have washed the gal and made her ready to have the custom clear bra methodically installed. For every new model within a given marquee we do several test fits prior to installing the product on a customer's gal so as to insure that we get both the best fit and coverage. If there is a single trick to wrapping a gal in plastic this assuming that only the best products available are used it is the application because the product will stretch and in fact needs to be so as to properly conform to the curves and yet we need to make certain that the results are a finish that is clear and free of stretch marks and maintains the OEM's brilliant painted appearance.

In addition to this wherever possible we completely wrap the plastic around/over the edges; for example both of her fenders are wrapped covering 100% of the exposed surface and in a similar manner is her hood as are the side rockers including the portion within the door area that is no visible when the doors are closed.

Here the methodical process of wrapping the gal in plastic is underway. We are completely wrapping her nose and her complete hood as well as many other known high risk areas.

Here she has been wrapped in plastic and moved to another part of the facility as we make ready to commence with the next phase of this project. As evidenced; her Viper nose emblem remains off at this time as we removed it when wrapping her nose rather than cutting around it. It makes for a much nicer installation and eliminates an area for dirt to collect.

At this time we all like her nose without the emblem so in time we will see if it put back in place.
Now that we have further defined this project the time has come for us to begin some of the processes. Initially we are going to integrate a cool shortened shifter setup, remove the rear tail lights and rear side marker light so they can be smoked, we will be de-badging her, and also removing her rear end so that the new 3.73 gearing can be integrated.
Here the gal; number 73 out of a very small den of 100 is having her OEM shifter modified so as to reduce the shifter height and at the same time significantly improve/shorten the movement required as she passes through the gears. Ergonomically it looks so much nicer and the feel is wonderful.

Here her rear tail lights and side marker lights have been removed and they are presently in the hands of those that will smoke them so as to further the aggressive purposeful look that this gal has already.

Here we are removing the exterior badges so as to give her a clean shaved look hence further improving her subtle purposeful appearance. The badges did little more than detract from her wonderful lines and took one's focus away from other notable features such as her ACR brakes and ACR wheels.

Here we are methodically going through the many steps required to remove her OEM rear end so that we can make her ready to receive the new 3.73 gearing. The gearing will undoubtedly make her much friskier however even more so creates a relationship between her heart, her transmission, and her rear end that is much more of a team effort whereas in OEM trim the gearing is so high that unless at speeds well in excess of 100 mph, 5th and 6th cannot be used unless one wants to loaf along at 12-1500 RPM which is not what these gal's were designed for and frankly it is not even close their operational sweet spot.

We have several phases of this project being tended to at the same time however the time has come to remove her OEM front suspension as we make her ready to receive her new suspension.
Here she is with the OEM suspension removed and we dare say ready to be fitted with her new suspension as we methodically make her ready to be exercised. During this phase we were very careful and protected all of the exposed at risk areas so as to insure that no secondary damage occurs during these processes.

Here her tail lights and rear side marker lights have been smoked and are now ready to be installed; there is no doubt that it is the subtle touches such this that not only personalize a gal but in this case will make her look very aggressive just sitting still.

Now that we have integrated the new 3.73 gearing within the OEM housing we are ready to reinstall the differential.
Here the newly assembled differential has been installed into the gal; during this process great care is taken so as to insure that no secondary damage is caused. Because the differential is fit into a cage of sorts that is narrower than the differential this process requires us to protect many of the surfaces so that no cosmetic damage is caused. We have installed the half shafts however will wait to complete the process until we have the shocks ready to be integrated too.

Now we are going to be fitting the freshly smoked taillights back into the gal and massaging her third brake light as the process of making her appear as sinister as she is at her core continues.
Here the smoked taillights have been fit adding a very nice personal touch.

Here we have taken the Viper logo off of the third brake light and are now considering a variety of ways to make it appear more integrated into her rear hatch.

There are numerous items being tended to all the time several others are being considered. We decided to expose the OEM exhaust and decide what direction we would to go with it.

Here we have removed this gal's OEM exhaust from the exhaust manifold back as we anxiously await the custom high flow cats from Sean aka Roe Racing. We elected to have Sean aka Roe Racing create and furnish these high flow when compared to others available because of their OEM design in that they use a stainless steel mesh flex joint as can be seen on the OEM cat in the picture thus insuring a long trouble free service life. Then add to this we had the opportunity to chat with Chuck Tator; the owner of Tator Dodge and he shared nothing but great things about them as they have installed many sets of them within his facility.

The mechanical process to remove these components is not terribly difficult and yet as always a methodical approach is used so as to insure that no secondary damage is caused. In addition we took the time mark the OEM tail pipe location so as to make the reassembly process a bit easier.
