BackTestarossa: Phase Seven

Phase Seven

Now we will begin the very methodical and at times tedious processes associated with placing her heart back into position. One of our primary requirements is that once completed it does not appear as if her heart was ever removed; meaning no secondary damage cosmetic or otherwise can be caused during the processes.

Here is a picture of the new lighter ATI harmonic balance and the custom dry sump belt drive assembly as created by John aka AccuFab. We removed the dry sump belt cover to complete a final inspection prior to installing her heart.

Here we are installing the custom AccuFab spring in her lower radiator. The purpose of this spring is to insure that the hose does not collapse during periods of extreme operation.

Here we are carefully installing her heart. We take great care and protect all of her at risk areas during this process so as to insure that no secondary damage is caused.

Here we have installed her custom headers using new OEM gaskets and a new set of custom stainless steel ARP exhaust studs and Jetnuts.

Here we have prepared her lightened flywheel and then installed her AP performance clutch assembly. Typically we would have installed this assembly prior to placing her heart in position however we wanted the little addition room when installing her headers.

Here we have installed her rear sway bar, attached the drop links, and the single adjustable Penske shocks.

Here we are carefully installing her transaxle making certain that no secondary damage is caused. This particular transaxle set into place and then slid into position like slicing a butter with a hot knife.

Here we have installed her custom mufflers however they will not be fully secured until the transaxle cross member is in position and everything in the final position so that final exist point alignments can be made. We have also installed her clamshell.

Here we have prepared all of the surfaces and then using new OEM gaskets have installed her intake manifold. Once we set the intake manifold in position we let it set in place for a period of time and then as described by Ford we completed the two step torque sequence to insure that the o-ring sealing surfaces are able to perform their designed task.

Here we are tending to one of the many service related items; in this case we are installing a new OEM fuel filter.

Here we are preparing and then installing a fresh set of NGK TR7IX spark plugs; these are slightly cooler when compared to OEM and we also pinch the gap down to .025 as we have found these spark plugs to perform very well and the pinched/tighter gap works well with the higher boost gals.

Now we have her heart in place and sealed so we can tend to the secondary systems and hardware as associated with this project.
